On September 26, 2017, Qinghai Province and the State of Utah signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to deepen and expand cooperation begun in 2011 under the Qinghai-Utah EcoPartnership for another three years. The MOU was signed during a delegation visit to Utah led by Mr. Guo, Genwang, Director General of Qinghai Foreign Affairs Office. It advances mutual prosperity through ongoing environmental cooperation among Qinghai and Utah businesses, universities, cities, counties, and districts and through a public-private innovation alliance, “The Utah-Qinghai Alliance,” to foster technology cooperation, joint intellectual property (IP) development, and demonstration projects. The cooperation will also focus on the development and protection of Sanjiangyuan National Park. In honor of the economic, cultural, and educational relationships with Qinghai that have contributed to the betterment of Utah, Utah Governor Gary Herbert also declared September 27, 2017 as Utah-Qinghai Day 2017.
