On December 12, 2015, University of Kentucky/Jiangsu Wisdom EcoPartnership hosted the 2nd International Forum for Comprehensive Treatment Technology of Air and Water Pollution in Nanjng, China. Approximately 200 people participated in the conference, covering topics such as energy policy, air emission control, and waste water treatment.
The conference introduced state-of-the-art technologies and the latest energy and environmental policies to industrial representatives who attended the workshop; enhanced the collaboration and coordination among researchers to limit gas and liquid pollutants from energy intensive industry with an emphasis of greenhouse gas control; and promoted the business development for the technology developed in this EcoPartnership.
The conference achieved its objectives of: providing a clearer picture on the status of the environmental challenge and regulations in the pipeline to address the challenge and creating a network of premier institutes/universities addressing conventional and non-conventional air emissions, including the Energy Research Institute of China National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) that is the think-tank for the China Central Government on energy policy and environmental regulation. In follow-up to this conference, University of Kentucky and Jiangsu Wisdom will issue an executive summary of findings from the event and are working with Nanjing Government and Yangzi Petrochemical Co. on a pilot project related to VOC recovery to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
